What is the World Padel Tour?
The World Padel Tour (WPT) is the biggest and most prestigious international padel tour, founded in Spain in 2005. As of 2024, the World Padel Tour and the Premier Padel Tour, a secondary circuit with worldwide padel tour events, have merged into one professional circuit run by the International Padel Federation (FIP). This marks an important step forward in the development of professional padel as now players do not have to choose which tour they compete on, and miss out on some of the biggest tournaments, strengthening the field significantly. The enlarged calendar in 2024 sees 25 tournaments in 18 countries, split into the categories of Major, P1, and P2, the order of significance, prestige, and ranking points.
